The Goldfinch | tiny house on wheels no. 2
The Goldfinch is simpler and more budget friendly than the Towhee, yet with a distinct sense of style. The smooth walls and decorative trim sets off a durable laminate floor for a classic look with no shortage of visual appeal.
This charming gable roof guest house fits within legal limits for towing on public roads, yet offers a half bath, two nooks for an office and a loveseat, a storage loft, and an extra long queen loft.
The Goldfinch is our take on another classic Shafer design, the WeeBee, extended to fit on a 16′ trailer and revised with a split loft plan for an open feel. We simplified with a half bathroom and no kitchen and extended the master loft even more to give us room for both a queen size mattress plus a bit of landing space for ladder transition.
The Goldfinch sports painted vertical “plank” siding, vinyl windows, fiberglass insulation, and a reflective coated steel roof. The corner porch has a recessed water resistant light rated for showers, an outlet with a collapsible cover, and just enough space to keep out of the elements while dealing with the door. An exterior hose bibb, second covered outlet, and utility lights over the hitch area complete the practical exterior.
The front bump out offers a cozy office niche with extras: recessed lighting, USB charging outlets, and RG-6 ethernet in the walls for high speed internet and multi-line phones. Custom crown molding trim shelves unite the lofts with a decorative and functional detail and pendant lighting in dimmer switches sets the mood for warm ambiance.
